With real estate at a premium in San Francisco, there's been a lot of creative repurposing of spaces in the city of late, especially in the arts. This was evident at the grand reopening of the Italian Cultural Institute (Istituto Italiano di Cultura) on Wednesday in Opera Plaza.
Previously in North Beach, this center of all things Italiano is now making its home in a former sushi restaurant: Where once the smell of tempura and rumaki hung in the air, a profusion of prosciutto, garlic, basil and marinara now lingers.
