Italian street-painters will return en masse to downtown San Rafael next year as part of a new plan to make the art event a biennial affair instead of an annual one.
The Italian Street Painting Marin event returned to San Rafael last year after a two-year hiatus, thanks to Mill Valley residents and festival founders Joe and Sue Carlomagno. Before that the Youth in Arts Italian Street Painting Festival was held for 17 years in San Rafael until 2011, when the nonprofit arts organization canceled the event due to a lack of funding.
