All around the world,the International Women's Day celebrates the economic, political, and social achievements of women while calling for greater equality. This celebration was established in 1911, and it is a custom for Italian men to give on this day a gift of yellow mimosas to their women.
Natalia Costa-Zalessow, Professor Emerita in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at San Francisco State University, with the participation of Joan E. Borrelli, translator of Margherita Costa's Poems into English, will present three outstanding Italian women of the baroque period: composer Francesca Caccini, painter Artemisia Gentileschi, and poet Margherita Costa.
