Neo-avant-garde frontiers: 50 years of group 63

Oct 09, 2013 928

The Group 63, protagonist of the Italian Neo-avant-garde - so called to distinguish it from historical 20th century Avant-gardes - was established in October of 1963 in Palermo. It brought together poets, writers and academics interested in debating aesthetic theories and in experimenting new forms of expression.

The conference, with the participation of Italian and American scholars, will present the Group's most significant achievements, analyze its influence on neoavant-gardes beyond Italy's borders, and focus the attention on lesser known authors and works. Literary critics Renato Barilli and Francesco Muzzioli will attend from Italy.
The conference will be held on Thursday, October 17 and Saturday, October 19 at 6:30pm.
