The past few months, Convivio, has been honored to present a series of lectures on the history of Italy through the work of Dr. Joanne Ferraro, a notable historian, and Professor Emerita of History at San Diego State University.

We are excited to announce the next installment of our Colloqui Discussion Series. On June 5, 2025, Convivio Society invites the public to Tuscany’s Renaissance Cities, an evening of insight, beauty, and conversation. The event will take place at AMICIBAR (250 W Date Street) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Under the sunset of a late spring evening Dr. Ferraro, author of The Renaissance and the Wider World, will guide attendees through the extraordinary legacy of Tuscan art and architecture. Her talk will paint a vivid panorama of the urban Renaissance—a golden age between 1300 and 1600 when Florence, Siena, and Pisa flourished with intellectual life, visual splendor, and civic innovation.

Guests can expect more than just a lecture. Small bites and wine will be served before the presentation, fostering an atmosphere of warmth and conviviality. Sponsored by Scappare Travel Club, this event promises an engaging and enriching evening for lovers of Italian culture and history. Admission is $10 at the door for the general public, while Amici Club members enjoy free entry. Those interested are encouraged to RSVP by June 1 to secure their place. This event has sold out several times so get your ticket while you can!
