For more than 60 years St. Leo's Catholic Church has been hosting an annual dinner that's about more than just food. St. Leo's has pictures of its annual Ravioli and Spaghetti Dinner dating back to 1948.
"We're not sure when it started, but it's an event that includes the whole parish and now the whole Italian community," event coordinator Sue Corasaniti said.
Volunteers met at the church the two weekends before the March 1 dinner to hand make ravioli – about 13,000 of them. On Saturday, volunteers will meet at the church to hand make about 3,500 meatballs.
