Officials and members of the local Italian-American community gathered in Glen Elk Friday afternoon for a ceremony declaring the district to be Clarksburg’s “Little Italy.” A sign honoring the legacy of the many Italian-American families who have roots in the area was unveiled in a lot at the corner of 4th and Clark streets.
“Today is an important day in the city of Clarksburg,” Mayor Ryan Kennedy said. “Today we take a moment to honor the Italian immigrants and the Italians who still live here in Clarksburg in the historic area of Glen Elk.”
