The Italian Festival will return to downtown Uniontown in 2018. City council approved the measure at their monthly meeting, with the festival to be held Friday, Sept. 7, through Sunday, Sept. 9. Main Street from Gallatin Avenue to Morgantown Street, and Beeson Avenue from Penn Street to Church Street will be closed to accommodate the festival, per the agreement with Fayette Festivals, which runs the event.
Fayette Festivals will pay $4,000 to the city for use of the festival area, with $1,000 due at the agreement’s signing and the remaining $3,000 due 30 days prior to the start of the festival. The agreement calls for Fayette Festivals to take out a general liability insurance policy of not less than $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate. The city will provide two city police officers during the festival. Fayette Festivals may serve alcohol on the festival premises.
