The Italian Embassy in Washington DC recently published some interesting facts and figures about Italy, many of which are relatively unknown. Did you know, for example, that Italy has the most UNESCO World Heritage sites of any country in the world? And beyond the physical places, such as the Residenze Reali dei Savoia of Turin pictured below, Italy also has several intangible treasures recognized by UNESCO, such as the traditional violin craftsmanship of Cremona and the Sardinian pastoral songs.
On the economic front, there are also many facts that are not well known outside of Italy. An true powerhouse, Italy is the number two manufacturing power in Europe and the 8th top exporter of manufactured goods globally.
