Jersey City, in conjunction with the JC Columbus Day Parade Committee, recently held the Italian-American Heritage and Cultural Month Flag Raising at City Hall. The event in the Council Chambers comes ahead of the parade this Saturday, October 12 at 1 p.m. Parade honorees were recognized, including 2024’s Grand Marshall, Ward C Councilman Richard Boggiano.
Nicholas J. Grillo, President of JC Columbus Day Parade Committee, said the flag raising also comes amid October being Italian-American Heritage Month. In brief remarks at the ceremony, Boggiano expressed his love for the Italian-American community in Jersey City. He said he has appreciated them since he was a walking cop in downtown in the early ‘70s.
