We are honored to announce that Joseph S. Bruno, C.P.A., entrepreneur and philanthropist, has joined the Board of Directors of the Italian American Museum of Washington DC (IAMDC). Joe is the President/CEO-Emeritus Building Hope, a nonprofit organization that supports the establishment and support of charter schools throughout out the United States.
He was the organization’s founder, President and CEO since its founding in 2004. A certified public accountant, Joe has 50 years of accounting, finance, business, and management experience, including as a partner in two Big-4 accounting firms and as the CFO of a public company.
He serves on the board of numerous non-profits entities including Leadership Greater Washington, DC Police Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers, the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools and BLUUM. Joe was also the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medstar Georgetown Hospital.
A native of Sicily, Joe has always been passionate about his Italian and Sicilian heritage and in 2010, he was honored as the Man of the Year by the Lido Civic Club. Joe is also a Founder and a supporter of the programs and mission of the Casa Italiana Sociocultural Center Inc./IAMDC. He is a graduate of St. John’s College High School and a recipient of the Saint John’s President’s Medal and a graduate of the University of Maryland.
