The first Light City Baltimore festival in 2016 will feature light art, concerts and performances of dance, theater and puppetry March 28 through April 3 along a 1.2-mile art walk in the Inner Harbor. [Sun story]. "Neighborhood Lights" is a program that will award $10,000 to five communities, including Little Italy, to create public art projects in collaboration with artists-in-residence. Little Italy restaurant proprietors Gia Fracassetti (Cafe Gia) and Cyd Wolf (Germano's Piattini) are taking the lead in producing Little Italy's lights festival. An artist-in-residence will be selected to lead workshops for the Little Italy community. 

"Our objective is to create a connection between the Madonnari Arts Festival, which is rooted in tradition, and the Light City Festival, which is a window on the future," said Wolf. "We are anticipating a joyful week of art and innovation as we light up Little Italy with futuristic art, music and dance." "What makes Little Italy unique is that we're a culturally and historically enriched community nestled in the heart of downtown Baltimore," said Fracassetti. "Little Italy emanates the feel, charm and ambiance of the Old Country and we hope that aura translates through our artistic expression in 'Neighborhood Lights.'"
