The Italian American Cultural Society of New Jersey, which was founded in October 2014, recently held its first major charity event for Make-A-Wish New Jersey. The event was held at the Samuel and Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place in Monroe Township.
More than 180 people attended the event and raised $21,000 which will grant two children's wishes — trips to Italy and to a Disney amusement park, according to a press release. Mary Jane Grassi chaired the event and was assisted by many volunteers from the society. Organizers said the generosity of the society's members and business operators who contributed to the gala was overwhelming.
