by Andrea Canepari - Italian Consul General in Philadelphia
Dear Co-nationals, In an attempt to make the passport application process more efficient and to reduce waiting times in the office, the Passport Department of this Consulate General has decided to introduce a new system by which you can make your appointment online via our website. This system will begin on March 1, 2016 (www.consfiladelfia.esteri.it).
In fact, from March 1, 2016 it will no longer be possible to apply for a passport without first having made an on-line appointment (exceptions will be made for emergency cases only). The system will require two very simple steps which can be completed on-line and the web page will soon be available on our website: 1. First you will have to create an account (which will require an email address and a password); 2. Then you will have to choose a date and time for your appointment.
Once you have created an account, it will be much easier to update your Aire and Vital Statistic information, greatly reducing the wait time at the window. This new system will also allow the user to make an appointment, well in advance of when the passport will expire, giving not only the applicant but also the consular office much more time to process each request.
Very soon we will be able to provide you with additional information about this new system which we are confident you will find most advantageous!
