The annual celebration of Italian Heritage Month is set for Sunday, Oct. 11. The Nutley-Belleville Columbus Day Parade and Italian Heritage Committee made some changes for 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, but the flag ceremonies and procession will prevail.
The celebration will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sun. Oct. 11 with the annual flag raising at Belleville Town Hall. Sponsored by the Nutley-Belleville Columbus Day Parade and Italian Heritage Committee, the Belleville Chapter of UNICO, and the Federation of Italian American Societies of New Jersey, the flag raising will include dignitaries from the Italian Consulate and renowned singer Jerry Pearce will sing the Italian and American national anthems.
