Randolph school officials are facing backlash from parents after their decision to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day. Last week, the Randolph Board of Education passed a resolution to make the change, a move parents said is "unacceptable" and was done without community input.
"The way in which the BOE passed the resolution was unacceptable and nefarious," said Franco Piarulli, a student's parent. "I would rather the school systems throughout the country portray a balanced picture of Columbus. He did a lot of good and I think the villain part of him is really out of context."
