The annual Pasta Cook-Off has been part of the events leading up to the Italian Heritage Festival for 30 years, helping Italian-American culture come together and thrive in North Central West Virginia. This year’s cook-off will take place Aug. 25, and cooks will begin creating their concoctions around 8 a.m. in Clarksburg’s Jackson Square, kicking off a full day of events.
The competitors will be greeted the morning of the cook-off with tables that will be set up and ready to go. The competitors must bring their own utensils, pots, pans, sauce ingredients, burners and pasta. Rose Mazza, chairwoman of the cook-off, said that all the competitors must make 10 pounds of pasta and are allowed to make up to two sauces to compete for each category of the festival.
