WHEREAS, THE BLOOMFIELD CHAPTER OF UNICO NATIONAL (an Italian American Service Organization) in the 1970’s donated and erected a Christopher Columbus Statute on the historic Green. This was accomplished by the unanimous approval of the Mayor and Council.
WHEREAS, since that time, each year, Bloomfield Unico and the Knights of Columbus have celebrated the discovery of America and memory of the great navigator with ceremonies on the National Columbus Day holiday.
