Heavy rain in the forecast for southern New Jersey has prompted the Camden County Commissioners to cancel the 2022 Italian American Festival. The county announced the event's cancellation on Thursday afternoon. There is no rain date. Weather experts say remnants from Tropical Storm Ian will come into New Jersey by Friday, dumping 1-4 inches of rain across the Garden State.
The National Weather Service projects the state's greatest rainfall this weekend on the southern Jersey Shore, with 2-3 inches of precipitation. Parts of North Jersey may only get a fraction of an inch through Sunday. The festival was originally scheduled for October 1 at Cooper River Park, on North Park Drive. A car show with Italian-made autos was a new addition this year.
