Sunday's Feast of the Assumption procession at St. Agnes Church was threatened with rain that did not lessen enthusiasm for the affair. Rachel Lamb was the 95th queen of the procession in honor of the blessed mother, a Roman Catholic holy day to commemorate the assumption of Mary, mother of Jesus, held on Aug. 15. The procession is held on the Sunday closest to the date at St. Agnes.
The 19-year-old from Parkesburg said she was looking forward to the procession at the breakfast beforehand. She couldn't remember a time when she wasn't part of the annual religious and community celebration.
