Summer is quickly approaching, which means some of the most popular festivals in the area will be coming up, like the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Heritage Festival. One of the very first events to get things underway this year was held Tuesday night to announce the 2015 Italian-American of the year.
Tonight the Italian-American has been named as well as several scholarships winners and what better way to honor them than by holding an Italian Dinner prepared by the West Virginia Northern Community College Culinary Arts Department. The 2015 Italian-American of the year is Dr. Antonio Licata. He is a life long resident of Weirton and has been served as surgeon for 30 years. He has now been retired for 15 years. He said he had no idea he was up for such an honor.
