June 28, 2017 will always be an unforgettable day for the Italian American community of Detroit. We were fortunate to share with twin priests Fr. Giuseppe “Pino” and Fr. Antonino “Nino” Licciardi the 50th anniversary celebration of their ordination to the priesthood. The day began with a beautiful Mass at Holy Family Church, officiated by Auxiliary Bishop Donald Hanchon, and Frs. Pino and Nino, assisted by numerous other priests from near and far.
In the evening, Frs. Pino and Nino were honored at a banquet held at the Palazzo Grande. The banquet was attended by many dignitaries including State Representative Peter Lucido and Cousul of Italy in Detroit Dr. Maria Manca, in addition to hundreds of members of the community. Sebastiano Previti and his committee did an outstanding job organzing this event, which delighted Frs. Pino and Nino.
A few days after their Detroit festivities, the twin priests traveled to Sicily, where there were more celebrations in their honor. On July 5, a Mass was held in the Catheral of Monreale, where they were ordained. Numerous celebrations were held in their honor.
Congratulations to Fr. Pino and Fr. Nino for this wonderful achievement!
