Italian-American organizations in Metropolitan Detroit will be celebrating "The Year of Italian Culture in the United States 2013" this October with an exhibition on a nineteenth-century Italian artist who left an impressive mark on the State of Michigan. "Artist & Muses: Tommaso Juglaris and the Italian Legacy at Michigan's State Capitol," features an international artist from Torino, a Detroit sister-city, who painted the eight mythical muses that crown the building's dome.

Dr. Geoffrey Drutchas, who is co-curating the Juglaris Exhibition with the Michigan Capitol historian Kerry Chartkoff, will be offering the Juglaris talks at the Italian-American Cultural Center in Clinton Township and the Italian American Club of Livonia, October 2-6. They will reveal how Juglaris was successfully authenticated as the source of the muses after more than a century of injustice surrounding Italian immigrants. The authentication is explained in a book he co-authored, Tommaso Juglaris: An Artist Between Europe and America.
