As was first stated months ago by the president of the Italian-American Heritage Festival committee, it looks like the celebration will go on this August as usual — in Warren’s Courthouse Square Park. And the Warren saga now dubbed “treegate,” grinds on.
Committee President Carol Ficeti told the Tribune Chronicle in February the committee didn’t want to move out of Courthouse Square Park, despite urging from city leaders. In fact, she said the festival committee had made that clear nearly a year ago to city leaders who were insistent that the festival, and all downtown festivals, move to Perkins Park.
