
Ted Lega of Joliet is being honored at 34th Chicago Music Awards, in Chicago IL, March 15 with a life time achievement award. Lega spent 34 years at Joliet Township High School Central. He started a band program at Richland School in Crest Hill, He spent nine years at the Troy Middle School, retiring in 2014.
He graduated from Joliet Township High school in 1962 and – like his father Ted Lega Sr. – was a member of the Joliet Township High School Band. While studying at, Roosevelt's Chicago Musical College, Lega took clarinet lessons from members of the Chicago Sympathy Orchestra. During his college years, Lega was also a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra and taught at Roosevelt University.
