Memorial to Columbus found vandalized on holiday

A memorial to Christopher Columbus in front of Saginaw County's government offices has been vandalized with red paint. The Saginaw News reports workers arrived at the Saginaw County Governmental Center today, which is the federal Columbus Day holiday, to find paint splashed on the front of the monument.

Saginaw County sheriff's Lt. Mike Gomez says investigators will review video surveillance. Investigators believe the memorial was vandalized late Sunday or early Monday because the paint was relatively fresh when workers arrived at the building.
