It’s time to celebrate the red, white and green! Pasta, opera, Sunday mass and a cannoli-eating contest are among the activities in the lineup for this weekend’s FESTA ITALIANA at Freedom Hill County Park. Food is a star of the annual festival presented by the Italian American Cultural Society, and local restaurants and vendors will be offering some of their signature dishes. (Italian wines, beers and cocktails will be available to complement them.)
This year’s music lineup includes Sal (the Voice) Valentinetti of the 2016 season of “America’s Got Talent,” Aaron Caruso and Ray Massa. Kiddies too restless to sit still for the tunes can enjoy fireworks (Friday) along with bounce houses, a petting zoo and a rock-climbing wall. 6-11 p.m. Friday, noon-11 p.m. Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday, Freedom Hill County Park, Sterling Heights. 586-228-3030. iacsonline.com. Free admission. $10 parking.
