After 20 years of experience as a private chef, Scott Wnek decided it was time to take his talents to a new level and open his own restaurant, Pronto!, a modern Italian American cuisine, located at 223 East Highland Road.
"It's Italian food with a little bit of a spin on it," Wnek said. "We wanted to bring a mom and pop gourmet restaurant to the community ... It was my dream to provide people with an alternative to the burger and fries type of thing."
Wnek and the four chefs he employs use as much local and organic products as possible, and everything served in the restaurant is made from scratch, including risotto, pastas, stews and bakery items, Wnek said. In addition to the restaurant, in the front of the cuisine is Bakery at Pronto, where the chefs will prepare wedding and birthday cakes, cookies and desserts. Those wishing to place an order must do so at least a week in advance.
