A Rochester veteran is being honored for his work with the veteran community. Larry Trapani served two years as an Army military policeman in the 1960s. These days, he's heavily involved in working with veterans, including acting as statewide and local commander of the Italian American War Veterans and commander of the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Committee.
Because of his involvement, Trapani was honored as December's Illinois Veteran of the Month. "I'm surrounded by tremendous people who are dedicated to getting things done for veterans, especially needy veterans, in our time and need," Trapani said. "We take care of needy veterans for the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And we don't stop there. We do it all year long."
