Josephine “Jo” Sangermano Townsend will be 92 come April, and for the last 50 years, she has been creating lovely and well-loved St. Joseph Day tables at her parish. For the past 17 years, the spry nonagenarian has been doing so at St. Celestine Church in Elmwood Park.
“It makes me feel good to do this.,” said Sangermano Townsend, who also lives in Elmwood Park. “I’m thankful to God that I’ve gotten all these years and been healthy. “I dedicate this to my son (Russell Townsend) who passed away and all the members of my family,” said Sangermano Townsend. “In the beginning it was for something else, but when my son passed away, I did it for him.”
