An annual soiree is bringing together some of the best Italian restaurants in the area as a benefit for the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor.
"A Taste of Italy" takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 at the Downriver Italian American Club Hall, 646 Biddle Ave., and features Italian food, wine and music.
There will be a sampling of Italian cuisine from various restaurants, including Andiamo Dearborn, Antonio's Restaurant, Fratello's Restaurant, Bravo Cucina Italiana, Frank's Restaurant, Sibley Gardens, Carino's Italian Grill, The Fish Market, Liberati's Deli & Bakery, Sammy's Cucina, Jack's Bakery, Roman Village and Silver Shores Waterfront.
Samples of Italian and California wines from Discount Drinks will be served.
For those wishing to have a truly authentic Italian experience, AAA Travel Agency will be on hand with information on travel to Italy.
Between 200 and 250 people turn out each year and have helped the group raise tens of thousands of dollars for Penrickton over the last nine years. Each of the participating restaurants donate the food and services of their staffs.
A donation of $35 a person benefits the Penrickton Center for Blind Children.
