Highlights/honorees: The Dante Alighieri Society of Pueblo held its 37th annual Scholarship Awards Celebration, featuring presentations in Italian by each scholarship winner followed by the Little Italy Buffet and an array of Italian-themed desserts. Richard and Fanny Baum were honored as Persons of the Year for their support of the organization and Italian cultural events.
Five high school seniors received $1,000 scholarships. The recipients were Sabrina Dominice, Leonardo Diaz-Herrera and Idaly Vega-Chavez of Centennial High School; Ali Maglia, South High School; and Juliana Arevalo-Mejia, Pueblo West High School. The following Colorado State University-Pueblo students received scholarships to help fund study abroad programs in Italy: Cassandra Castillo, Sabrina Trevillian, Jennifer Franklin, Joseph Gavato and Jonathan Jesik.
