This past Saturday, Roberto Angotti was at Milford High along with Lou and Chris Colabello, premiering his documentary “Italian American Baseball.” To know the journey Chris Colabello took from Milford to the major leagues, it helps to know the story of his father, Lou. And to know the professional and international baseball career of Lou, it helps to know the story of how Italian-Americans grew within the American pastime.
And to know how Italian-Americans became prominent figures within the national pastime, it helps to know how Italian-Americans became prominent figures within the nation itself. That’s where radio DJ-turned-history teacher-turned-documentarian Roberto Angotti comes in. The hour-long film capturing the experience of Italian-American baseball players features the father/son duo of Milford’s Lou and Chris Colabello.
