This event celebrates the encounter of contemporary music and the Italian Renaissance, commemorating the life and works of Gaspara Stampa (1523-1554), the greatest woman poet of the Italian Renaissance.

The evening will begin with a brief presentation on the life and work of Gaspara Stampa by Prof. Franco Mormando, chairperson of the Boston College Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.

Next will follow an exclusive performance of two works by the contemporary composer and BC faculty member, Thomas Oboe Lee: the world premieres of "Gaspara Stampa" (2014), and "La Serenissima" (2013).The author will introduce his works.
