A “for sale” sign soon will go up on the historic Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and its campus off Shrewsbury Street. “We are actively looking at marketing the property,” Monsignor F. Stephen Pedone, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish at Our Lady of Loreto Church, said this week. Monsignor Pedone said the parish had scheduled interviews this week with two commercial real estate firms, Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates and NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs, about listing the property.
The 5.32 acres on Mulberry Street includes the closed Mount Carmel Church, its rectory and community center, a Little League baseball field and associated parking. The assessed value of the land and buildings is $7.65 million, according to City Assessor William J. Ford. An asking price has yet to be determined, Monsignor Pedone said.
