
In its 100th year, the annual feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has found ways to keep people coming back year after year. Even those who haven't lived in the city for decades, like Kelly L. Parody, said the Italian festival was a required stop. On Friday, the Florida resident lined up to buy a bag of sweetened fried dough, also known as a Frito, to share with her family.
"It's all about tradition," Ms. Parody said. "You don't come home without coming here, at least I don't." Hundreds could be seen congregating at St. Anthony's Church, Arsenal Street, riding rides, taking in performances or enjoying food like sausage and peppers or meatballs.
