The town will celebrate Columbus Day with its annual parade Monday morning. The parade arrives at P.T. Barnum Square at 9 a.m. and includes residents dressed as Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabella, who gave Columbus the money for his 1492 voyage that led him to the Bahamas.
Participants will raise the Italian flag in the square and town officials will give speeches. Former First Selectman Edward Mills and his wife Geraldine started this parade in 1982.
