The Christopher Columbus monument on Waltham Common was defaced with red paint sometime between Thursday night and early Friday morning. The Italian American Alliance reported the incident, noting that the statue has been vandalized multiple times since 2018.
Erected in 1992 to mark the 400th anniversary of Columbus’s arrival in the New World, the monument has already undergone partial cleaning following the latest damage. The Italian American Alliance condemned the act and urged communities to stay alert against further incidents.
