“APORÌA” Exhibit at Italian Cultural Institute with an Art Installation and Music

Artist and designer Antonio Marras opened his “Aporίa” exhibit last night, curated by Valeria Orani,  on the occasion of the XVII Giornata del Contemporaneo (Italian Contemporary Art), featuring the site-specific installation “Su per le antiche scale” (Up the ancient stairs) of black string covering the walls and staircase at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

The opening featured a special event, “Andando Restando” (Going while Staying) choreographed by Marco Angelilli, wherein contralto singer Maurizio Rippa and performance artists Gabriel Da Costa and Francesco Napoli delivered an avant-garde interpretation of Italian migrants’ tumultuous journey to New York.
