The relationships between Italy and the United States during the 20th century are intertwined with art. Artistic exchanges between the two countries relationship play a key role in shaping their mutual trends of taste, cultural history and political concerns.

The Italian Cultural Institute will gather scholars and experts in the fields of conservation, promotion and scholarly research of Modern and Contemporary Art to talk about some pivotal case studies in this exchange: the market of Old Masters between late 19th and early 20th century, developed by the major scholars and dealers to provide the American magnates with a new social status and awareness through art.
