The City of Binghamton (NY) is gearing up for the upcoming long weekend with a tradition that’s lasted over six decades. This Monday is Binghamton’s Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival, to take place in Downtown Binghamton, beginning at 9 a.m. with the raising of the Italian flag outside of city hall. The grand Marshall this year is the former Binghamton Mayor and proud Italian American, Rich Bucci.
“Columbus Day is the celebration of an epic journey. Of an Italian explorer who dared to dream, and whose voyages are deeply entwined with our heritage. These are voyages that truly change the history of the world. And that’s what we celebrate this weekend,” Bucci said.
