Opening, Saturday, April 11, 2015, 2 p.m. : Denny Pizzini
Denny Pizzini, who has lived on Staten Island for more than 50 years and is retired from his catalog printing business for some 20 years, is a well known artist in the borough. Among his exquisite collection are his signed edition "dennydolls"© sculptures, that he started creating in the early 1990s.

Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m. Pizzini will present a mix of his distinctive sculptures at the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, located in 420 Tompkins Avenue, Rosebank. The GMM is the historical house of Antonio Meucci, true inventor of the telephone and Giuseppe Garibaldi, the hero of the two worlds and the general who unified Italy. Mr. Pizzini will display his pieces of art and he will be available for discussion.

His works cast in either resin, cold-cast bronze or real hot cast bronze are finished and painted completely by hand. The largest portion of his works are cast in bronze, with a limited edition of 25 pieces. Each sculpture is signed and dated by the artist himself.

His passion started in the 1950s after spending four years stationed on a U.S. Strategic Air Command Base as the Crew Chief on a B-36 in the 70th Bomb Squadron. It is during that time that he painted the popular "pin-up girls" (nose art) for the first time on the bombers. Returning home to New York City, without aircraft noses to paint, he decided to transform those painting into sculptures.

He also creates sculpture of military figures, an avid military buff interested in antique military history and arms. He a member of the Colonial Rifle and Pistol Club and a board member of Blue Heron Park.

Additionally, among his work we can mention a cold cast bronze of the late artist Robert Volpe, and the bust of Sal Somma, a noted coach for New Dorp High School. Thousands of Islanders have already had the pleasure of viewing his bronze patina and aqua resin larger than life sculptures of icon, Marilyn Monroe, at Z1 and Z2 restaurants in Staten Island.

The Admission is $10/$5 for members and it includes a light reception. For further information please call the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum at 718-442-1608.
