For members of the Laperuta family, Westchester County's Italian Heritage Celebration at the Kensico Dam Plaza has become a family tradition — one they've honored for some seven years now. So it was no surprise that Dom and Karen Laperuta, both 51, of Yonkers were there with their two children at this year's event on Sunday, a welcome family retreat from the hustle of daily life.
"Between all of us, it's a different schedule. So it's nice to find time to relax," said their daughter, 20-year-old Anita. "Even if I moved out of the house I'd be here. I'd be contacting them about coming," she said.
