People across the Hudson Valley celebrated their Italian heritage in Harrison on Columbus Day. In Harrison, thousands decked out in green, white and red lined Halstead Avenue to watch the 41th annual ‘It's Great to Live in Harrison’ parade. Bands, school teams, vintage cars, fire trucks, and many community groups enthusiastically marched despite a steady drizzle.
Following the parade, a festival with food, rides, and entertainment was held at Ma Riis Park across from Town Hall. On Sunday, residents turned out as Eastchester’s finest held their 13th annual Columbus Day Parade. In addition to live music and some tasty Italian food, the town wrapped up the festivities with a fireworks show at the Lake Isle Country Club.
