Paul Vallone, Democratic candidate for the 19th City Council seat, on June 10 received the endorsement of the Italian American Political Action Committee (IAMPAC). The endorsement is a significant one as Northeast Queens boasts one of the largest Italian American communities in New York City. In the 2009 Democratic primary for the 19th City Council District, Italian American candidates Paul Vallone and Jerry Iannece won 46 percent of the vote.
IAMPAC Chairman Jack Como, President James Lisa, Vice President Robert Fonti and Secretary Vecenzo D'Angelo remarked in a letter addressed to Vallone, "We believe that Paul Vallone is the kind of individual who embodies the type of leadership our organization supports. Paul's appreciation of his own heritage, as well as others, demonstrates his ability to respect traditions while moving forward with a vision for the future. We wish Paul much success in this year's election – buona fortuna!"
