I am here to announce the formation of a new Italian American scholarly organization entitled the American Italian Socio-historical Association (AISA). The purpose of the organization is to present and disseminate social scientific research on the Italian American experience. Specifically, the social scientific research on the Italian American experience would involve the fields of anthropology, economics, history, political science, psychology, and sociology. Another purpose of the organization is to help its members present and publish their papers possibly for tenure reasons and for promotions.
The American Italian Socio-historical Association will have its first conference this year on October 21, 2015 from 8:30am to 7:00pm at St. John's University. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at no cost to those attending the conference. Also, we plan to publish the proceedings of the conference.
Please email me at gesualdl@stjohns.edu by October 15, 2015 to let me know if you are interested in becoming a member and/or attending the conference. There will be no membership dues for the first year. If you know anyone who would be interested in becoming a member and/or attending the conference, please send them this announcement and they can email me or telephone me at 718 990 6472. Thank you.
