Opera Ithaca will present "Il Sogno," a contemporary opera of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," this weekend at the Lehman Alternative Community School Theatre. Written by American composer Kristin Hevner Wyatt while living in a convent in Italy, "Il Sogno" (pronounced "eel so-nyo," Italian for "The Dream") is a contemporary Italian operatic fantasy of Shakespeare's classic comedy.
The opera made its world premiere in 2004 at the Teatro Citta della Pieve in Umbria, Italy, and its American debut in 2009 with the Metropolis Opera Project in New York City.
