Looking for the perfect words to say as the emcee of Wednesday's Paolo Busti Cultural Foundation Fall Fundraiser, Notre Dame High School Principal Wade Bianco said he read as much as he could find about his people. "I searched for Italian pride, Italian heritage, the top ten things Italians are proud of," Bianco said before the festivities at Terry Hills. "What came up on every site? La famiglia. Italians and family are synonymous."
Bonded by a common heritage, shared pride and generational traditions, an extended family of more than 175 people came together to honor Outstanding Italian-Americans Florence Condidorio and Joseph Teresi, Jr. It was meant to grow a scholarship fund that has given more than $100,000 to Genesee County graduates. October is National Italian-American Month, and Oct. 17 will mark 267 years since the birth of the Holland Land Company Office founder.
