A Queens councilman is planning to erect legislation designed to block Mayor de Blasio from tearing down statues of Christopher Columbus and other contentious figures. A special City Hall task force is reviewing whether the city should keep, ditch or alter monuments with controversial histories.
But Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) is slated to roll out a bill that would require a majority vote of the City Council to remove any statues on city property. The measure will be co-sponsored by councilmen Joe Borelli, Paul Vallone and Alan Maisel, according to a release from Ulrich.
