With new eating contests and WCBS-FM radio personality Joe Causi in the line up for 2018, the San Gennaro Feast marches into its 92nd year in Little Italy. The City's longest-running and largest street festival starts on Thursday, Sept. 13, and runs for 11 days until Sunday, Sept. 23. Food is omnipresent at the San Gennaro. And restaurants like Il Cortile, owned by Staten Island's Esposito family, build stands out onto the street thereby extending the dining rooms and seating.
Of course pizza is sold at a few stations and restaurants. Many of the workers at the San Gennaro are Staten Islanders -- maybe that's why those zeppoli are so good! -- so it is a prime place to re-connect with long-time friends. There are famed landmarks like Ferrara Bakery. Last year's feast saw this presentation of a giant cannoli filled with cannoli. And -- there's a contest for that!
